Whether it be due to the massive torque available from the RD28 Nissan Safari engine, or the lower cost of Diesel fuel, or because Diesel race cars are taking over the Le Mans and other races, or all of the above, or maybe none of the above, I’m not exactly sure as to what led this fellow into converting this Nissan Cefiro A31 into a Diesel. But this I’m sure of – I’ve never seen or heard of one like this before.

The new Hyundai Genesis Coupe is already being sold here in the Philippines. The top-of-the-line version, with the 3.8L LAMBDA engine, has already been reviewed by our friends at Auto Industriya.

We’ve seen some marketing at Sulit.com about it. Now what’s funny is the way they copy-paste without giving at least a more detailed explanation of what they’re comparing the Genesis Coupe with.

I have a few questions about the ads, which I’ve highlighted above:

1. When they’ve compared the Genesis Coupe with “Infiniti”, what were they referring to? I’m pretty sure what they meant to say about “Infiniti” here is actually the Infiniti G35 Coupe. Let’s set things straight because they also mentioned that the Genesis Coupe comes with an “Infinity” sound system.
2. Why is it called “ESPESP” when you say it only stands for Electronic Stability Program?
3. When you said “19 inch alloy wheel”, I’m sure you meant “wheels” right? Hehehe.

Okay okay I know typographical errors. Fine. Hehe. Kidding aside, here are the pictures posted with the ads:

Now wouldn’t all these advertising be better if it came with a video commercial? Watch Hyundai’s official Epic Lap Super Bowl Commercial which shows you just what the Genesis Coupe can do in stock form, with drifter Rhys Millen behind the wheel hehehe.

And by the way, Rhys liked this so much, that he is now using the Genesis Coupe as his official drift competition car replacing the Pontiac Solstice that he used to drive!

As for the price, the Auto Industriya folks have already compared the Genesis coupe to it’s rivals in the market. Here’s what they’ve had to say:

Then there’s the price. At P 1.85 million, it’s significantly cheaper than a Mazda MX-5 (Php 2 million) and a Subaru Impreza STi (Php 2.398 million), plus it has two more pistons and more than a liter of displacement to boot. The Mitsubishi Eclipse might present a good case for itself – since it also has a 3.8L V6 engine – but it’s P650,000 dearer and is only front wheel drive. The Volvo C30 can also present a good option to its Hyundai counterpart, since its base model variant is Php 1.688 million (with a 2.4 inline five pot), and a range topper that’s Php 2.188 million (and has a 2.5 inline five piston turbo). However, the C30 feels claustrophobic inside, and the rear styling leaves something to be desired.
