Is this the coolest police car in the Philippines or what?

Okay, okay, I know it’s not a real police car, but rather, it’s the theme of this Nissan S15 Silvia show car. But wouldn’t it be cool if it were real? This is the stuff little kids who could be potential race car drivers when they grow up dream about when they play cops and robbers, car chase edition! The fact that it’s now a life-size driveable car is just totally awesome. Won’t you agree?

March 17 saw drift cars heading towards Clark International Speedway to compete in this year’s most definitive drift event yet. The Car Porn Racing Team, led by Ian King, started the event with practice laps, and suddenly I was thrown into drift heaven. The all important ingredient to every great drift event, freshly burnt rubber, was more than abundant.

The sound of screeching tires as cars sped sideways was unmistakable. You could see Ian conducting the event throughout the day, with spectators fueled by the action courtesy of the day’s drifters.

When not on the track, the drift cars could be inspected up close, whilst being prepped for their next run.

After a few runs, drivers turn to their cars for a quick inspection, just making sure the wheels were still attached… At least all the ROTAs were

As the drifters were unleashed on the track, you knew they meant business… and what drift track will be complete without a Trueno gracing it’s rubber smeared tarmac.

The yellow Celica of Joma Montañer was my personal favorite (along with the A70).

The marshal may have had a bad burrito earlier that morning, forcing the drivers to manage the event on their own… just kidding. Despite the event essentially being a competition, the atmosphere was friendly, with everyone out there to have fun among friends

On-site body work will always be expected during drift events (or any motorsport event for that matter). It is all part of the fun.

Drifting requires just as much precision and control, and perpetual adjustments to the car’s suspension is a common sight.

The event was blessed with great weather, and everyone enjoyed the increasing competitiveness of the drivers.

I’d like to apologize to you guys for the long hiatus. Been real busy lately as, since I’m also human, I also experience changes in life like all of you do. Don’t worry, it’s nothing negative and it doesn’t mean you’ll see less blogs from me or from Custom Pinoy Rides. My wedding is coming up next month, so my time has been a bit more divided the past few weeks. But not to worry, things will be looking up for Custom Pinoy Rides and this year will be even bigger than last year. In the meantime, let me catch up on some stuff I need to post up…

In Part 2 of this series, I’ve featured the Invasion of the Old Schoolers. Today, I’d like to show you some of the more modern vehicles wearing the blue oval, and what their Pinoy owners have done to customize and personalize them.

But the thing is, it would hurt to see this thing actually tackle a tough offroad trail, seeing how neat and shiny the paint is. It just looks so pristine!

Though I would be kidding you if I said I wasn’t a fan of properly stanced rides. This Ford Focus has got the goods to make the Stance Pilipinas crew proud. Aggressive fitment, stretched tires wrapped around Rota IKR’s, this ride puts the “n” in the word “neat”.

This Focus sedan also strut its stuff. The RS kit looks awesome on it! Me likey!

Apart from the Focuses (or is it Foci? Nobody has answered me yet guys…), there were also a variety of tuned FoFi’s (pet name for Ford Fiesta). From rides inspired by VIP styling like the one you see here…

To race inspired, complete with the matte wheels and racing stripes…

To Euro inspired, there was no shortage of variety despite seeing basically the same car in different forms.

Of course, the new Fiesta was there too. Though we’ve shown you this car on our teaser post for this event, we’re showing it to you again, this time with a different model posing with it.

Off to other things, I went around doing my walkabout again, and snapped away at some of the models at the event.

You’ve probably had more than your fill of the previous model already. But this half-foreign model has posed for us during another shoot. More on that later so watch out for it!

I’m a dog lover too. So when I saw this cute Shar Pei, I realized that some club members actually bring the entire families to events, including their pets!

Would you look at that! A model who is also a photographer! Awesome! We got the opportunity to work with her as well. Again, more on that later so watch out for an exclusive feature!

I climbed the scaffolding and tried to play a game of “how wide can your lens go” with one of my favorite photographers and mentors – Ken Go. For the first time, I found myself wanting to have something wider than 18mm. Just look at the amount of cars attending the event! Take note, what you see in this photo is just one-third of the entire parking space – filled with member’s rides!

And when the owners stepped into the frame, well, sorry guys, I really couldn’t fit everyone. But I hope I’ve got most of them, and Ken Go was able to take the full photo with his fisheye lens, which the club members should be able to see on the FCP Forums.

Anyways, as the day went along, some interesting cars began to arrive.

A Ford Lynx with a lot of personalized touches…

Or RS, which is the factory souped-up version of the Lynx.

Then ths seemingly stock Fiesta rolled in. But seemingly stock may not be what it seems, if the driver is a hoon.

Just before I started getting cross-eyed seeing Lynxes, Fiestas, and Focuses (or is it Foci?) in various shades and colors, the ambiance suddenly changed with the arrival of these folks – the old schoolers.

Just shows the diversity of genres in Ford Club Philippines. There may be different sub-groups, but they’re all united as one!

Escort anyone? Would you like a 2-door MK1?

How about a 3-door estate version?

Or how about a MK2 4-door?

They all came in different styles and colors and levels of modification. Sheesh! I wanna do rally school with one of these! Oh, check out the Mustang at the back which we’ve featured a while back. But guess what’s behind the mustang?

The monstrosity of a truck – the F150 Raptor. We had to shoot the rest of the queue before this truck much faster than we used to in fear of it running out of fuel before it gets to park. (Kidding!)

Then suddenly, we thought the A-Team came to join the party!

Taking a break from shooting the queue, leaving the jump shots and all that with Phil Aragones and Andy Rodriguez, I went off to check out the cars in the parking lot. Seems the models have made friends with the Raptor!

And did their part in escorting the Escort.

FCP brought in their own models as well! Clad in FCP tops, they came in full force to charm the club members.

Last February 25, 2012, Ford Club Philippines celebrated their 10-Year Anniversary with an event entitled One FORD. One CLUB. One DECADE. What better way to celebrate it than to throw a massive party! This gathering of awesome cars and their dedicated owners was held at Bonifacio Global City. And Custom Pinoy Rides was there to shoot them all bwahaha! I mean, take photos of them.

We had a blast shooting more than 180 cars in a span of about 12 hours. We’ve got some cool Ford cars of just about every genre, as well as shots of the lovely models. Check out the photos below…

There were a lot of hilarious jump shots during the pictorial with the owners.

There were “happy jumps”…

And even poker-faced jumps, as if they were simply suspended in mid-air.

But this was probably the best jump shot in my opinion. Getting it sideways! This was like the “drift” of jump shots. Haha!

And probably the best wacky shot of the day.

Big cars can sometimes make men feel like boys once again.

They all wanted to get on the back of the big red truck! Don’t tell me you didn’t want to do this when you were younger?

Car clubs aren’t just for the boys. There are girls too you know!

This Ford Capri caught everyone’s eye. You just don’t see these things everyday!

What do you call 3 Everests put together? A mountain range?

As the cars started to pile in, parking was soon a premium. The club just about filled the entire lot!

To be honest, the first time I saw a Mazda 2 in person here in the Philippines, I was a bit skeptical about the design. I first saw it from the rear, and it looked to me as if it were a tad too small for a hot hatch. Maybe it was the shape of the lights, as it reminded me of those alien drawings to me. But when I saw it from the front, I began to appreciate the entire looks of it from a holistic point of view. Now when I see one, maybe becuase with the smiley face design in front, I feel it’s smiling at me. So guess what… I smile back. LOL!

Now when the Ford Fiesta came out, I was half expecting a better looking car. I knew it was from the same platform, but I was thinking the Euro-inspired looks would trump the JDM-styling of the Mazda 2. But after a while, the Fiesta’s design, in stock form, started to look boring to me. Not so with the Mazda 2. Again, maybe it’s that smiley face, but it always looks like a happy car to me.

With that, I present to you this photo of 3 Mazda 2′s from MazdaTech Philippines. I call this photo “The Triple Double”. Hope you like it!

Andy Rodriguez (A.Rodriguez Fotografia) and I joined the Miata Club on a trip to Tagaytay Highlands last weekend. It sure was a rainy and foggy trip of sorts, but that didn’t stop us from taking photos.

Rolling Shots never suck. But this one does… in an extremely good way.

Just look at that awesome ride. It exhibits that angry, purposeful-looking stare of a madman coming sraight at you, gritting his teeth on a cigar. If you see this ride rolling down your street, make sure you keep your pets and children at bay. You don’t want them getting sucked in now do you?

This GC Subaru Impreza I find to be very interesting. Simple and elegant yet purposefully modified on areas where it count. Even at this angle you’d know it means business. Rollcage not just for safety but to stiffen up the chassis as well, low profile tires for better handling, rally-style roof vent, and good grief take a look at how massive those brake rotors are…

Acura Integra. Honda lovers would rejoice seeing this!
