Photos from Ideal Autospa
We recently heard about this hot car wash and enthusiast’s hang-out lounge in Cebu, and decided to check it out. Man, were we glad we did. We were definitely grinning from ear-to-ear. This is one of the few places in the country where real car enthusiasts can take their beloved prized vehicles for some real deal pampering.
Places like this have an interesting ambiance to it, which makes you feel good just being there. What it was, I really couldn’t put my finger on. In my quest to find out what it was, I got to interview one of the owners.
Read on to find out more about the history behind Ideal Autospa, what makes them different, and some insights about car detailing…
CPR: Can you introduce yourself to our readers?
Jo: Name is Jo Cajita. An Expat from the States with deep roots of automotive passion. I am one of the founding members of MFest based in Southern California. In fact, you guys have featured one of my rides back in 2009, a BMW 540it Supercharged Widebody. I came back to the motherland because my father needed me to come home to help out with the family businesses. At the same time, I figured I should plant my feet into the automotive scene here and share my wealth of knowledge and resources in making our local cars in par with the rest of the world.
Luckily, I was invited to join a group of guys that share my passion for car. Now, I’m one of the owners of Ideal Autospa.
CPR: Please give us a little history about Ideal Autospa.
Jo: The company is about 2 years old. Don’t let the age fool you though. Despite it’s young age, it’s got about 30 years of combined experience in the automotive scene. The guys before me wanted to set up shop to cater the ripe Cebuano car culture. They realized that Cebu didn’t really have a shop that was meticulous enough to get that show car quality in detailing and restoration. They had the connections and resources to do so. So they figured what the heck, let’s make it happen. Along the way, they brought me in. Thankfully, I was able to bring in a Cali flavor onto the table. Since then, we’ve been awarded locally. Just for example on our last local Bumper2Bumper/Metro Rides show, we were able to bring a total of 8 awards. Not bad when we only brought 2 cars to represent for us.
CPR: What is the importance of car detailing? How often should this be done?
Jo: Your car is an extension to a true car enthusiast. Car maintenance doesn’t stop under the hood. A car wash is also car maintenance. If your car looks like shit, that isn’t a good reflection of how you are as a car enthusiast. Detailing by definition is quite broad.
My definition is that to keep your car clean and classy you need to be keeping your car washed at least once every other day with the dust and heat we have here in the Philippines. The right tools include even the simplest dirt free microfiber cloth and water based chemicals. In a perfect world and by doing this routine, you won’t need 10 hour detailing job done every 6 months.
But since one can’t avoid the paint detriments that we drive through constantly, our guys at Ideal Autospa are the solution. I personally have trained all my employees how to work on cars and be in comparison with how I used to prep cars at SEMA. Aside from proper training, I use proper chemicals from Meguiars, Pro 1, 3M, Zaino, Microtex, Chemical Guys, and a bunch more.
CPR: What sort of services can customers avail at Ideal Auto Spa?
Jo: Ideal Autospa is your one stop shop for your car’s detailing needs. Aside from our car wash packages, we do quick or full 10 stage detailing on interiors and exteriors of any sized cars, we wet sand, engine wash and detailing, hand wax or buff wax, headlight restoration, interior dressing, wheel refinishing, wheel polishing, wheel powdercoating and we also boast in our expertise in paint and collision.
Aside from the detailing aspect, we got our partners from Autobahn Cebu just next door to help us out with our mechanical and customization needs. From simple HID lighting to $7000 3 piece forged wheels, we got it at our shop.
Cool thing too is we have a lounge where we got our regular clients to kick it with. Drinks and Free WiFi while you wait for your car gets pampered is a plus here at Ideal.
CPR: Out of all the Car Detailing Shops in Cebu that people can take their cars to, why Ideal Auto Spa? What makes you different or what sets you apart from all the other detailing shops out there?
Jo: What sets us from the competition is because we don’t stick with typical procedure. We constantly evolve. I hear some shops here in Cebu still use oil based Armor All. They don’t realize that the oil in their chemicals expand in the pores of leather interior during a hot Cebuano day.
We push the envelope. We hand pick our supplies. We offer the same stuff to our customer as to what we would use on our own cars. On top of that, we educate our clients how to care for their cars too.
We are a shop ran and owned by car enthusiasts. Wouldn’t you want someone to care for your car like it’s their own?
CPR: Any last words and people you’d like to greet and thank?
Jo: Big thanks to the people at CustomPinoyRides.com for giving the time to visit our shop! We also want to thank our customers that keep coming back, you guys are the best client base! The Federation of Auto Clubs Cebu you guys are the best. If it wasn’t for your cars at the show, we wouldn’t be shining brightly in the Cebu Car Scene! Autobahn Cebu mad shout out to your constant support! I also want to thank our suppliers here in Cebu Meguiars and Microtex. I want to thank my friends back in Cali, the MFest family for still supporting us here with the supply lines for Zaino, Chemical Guys, and Pro 1!
