Who thinks the Mitsubishi Strada is such a great platform for a modified off-road monster suitable for our local terrain? I do. And this matte army green rendition by none other than 199 Off Road House is one of the best examples you can find anywhere.
I kinda like the fact that they retained the independent front suspension setup, and upgraded it with a lift kit with beefier parts, instead of going for an all-out solid axle swap. It ensures that you wouldn’t lose out on the more comfortable ride that an IFS is known for.
Now some guys who modify IFS this way usually go the “prerunner look” route, opting for a prerunner hoop on the front bumper. I like the fact that for this Strada, 199 Off Road House opted to keep the front end neat and clean via an off-road bumper without a bull bar or prerunner hoop. It retains that sleek look that the Strada is known for.
Combine that with the wider track, and you know that despite the lift and massive Nitto Mud Terrain tires, you can still feel equally confident doing semi high-speed turns on pavement, as getting into gnarly off-camber situations when off-road.
The winch completes the package for when the going gets tough.
So, what do you think? Is the Mitsubishi Strada a great platform for a modified off-road monster suitable for our local terrain or what?
