Okay boys and girls, it’s Thursday once again, so in a “throwback” sort of sense, we’re bringing you something old school from back in the day, which was of course restored by Sushi Machine Garage as a nostalgic JDM racing machine – a 1971 Toyota Celica TA22, featured in the 2013 Trans Sport Show.

Being a first-generation old-school Toyota Celica, this car was designed by Toyota as a personal car that emphasized styling and driving enjoyment. It’s design paid homage to the muscle car era popular in the seventies.

The name “Celica” was derived from the Latin word coelica, which means “heavenly” or “celestial”. Surely every nostalgic car enthusiast would be rewarded with that heavenly sensation if given the chance to drive this car, don’t you think?
