The AE86 Corolla has been a much sought-after classic nowadays. Despite the car’s age and no longer being in production, it seems to have never gotten old as it is still a mainstay in the motorsports arena.
That said, the select few who own one are very lucky people. And one of those people is Gabe Salvador. What makes him even more fortunate, is that he owns an AE86 at such a young age… This AE86 is actually older than him! So combining his interest in restoring cars with the performance modifications available in today’s generation, this project car, dubbed “PROJECT 86″, has got a lot in store for it.

A well-deserved wash-over was needed to restore this legendary vehicle to pristine condition. And along the way, Gabe decided to revise the way the car was colored, without changing the color combination. He went for more black, and less red, especially around the lower extremities of the car.
And with a new lip installed, what do we think of the finished product? It’s spectacular!
Gabe also swapped the stock 4AC engine that the car initially came with for a 4AGE Blue Top with upgraded hi tension wires and iridium spark plugs.
He then decided it was time to buy his baby some new shoes. He went with 15-inch Royal Lip Silver Rota RB’s, which looks perfect on this ride!

Gabe also decided to give it a new look and stance courtesy of Megan Racing 2-inch lowering springs. Also, some additional upgrades to the suspension include KB Gas Shocks and a Strut Bar in the engine bay. The front camber looks awesome!
