This is Rhett del Rosario’s new project car. A Toyota Cressida GX81 aka Chaser/MKII/Cresta.
This car has been with him since last year, so we all know what the next step is with automotive enthusiasts and professionals – Modifications!
This car is being built to compete in the top drifting competitions in the country.
Right now, its still stock but Rhett is contemplating on whether to install a 1JZGTE or a 2JZGTE. The 2J is a hell of a lot better, but it’s scarcity, as well as it’s parts are quite a challenge to find, as compared to a 1J. Whatever the case may be, check back with us soon and together we can follow the build-up of this soon to be totally awesome ride.
What’s in the pipeline are flush-mounted wheels, slammed with coilovers, giving it a VIP style look with a modern body kit. Big brakes are also on the way to be installed.

The once luxury interior has now received some sporty amenities to make drifting much easier.

Chess anyone?

Cusco RS 2-way LSD w/ 3.9 gears

Modified X8 rear subframe with JZX90 LSD and big brakes. That’s a Toyota Chaser differential modified to mount on the Cressida subframe. Its not a straight or easy thing to do. A lot of cutting, aligning and welding has been done to fit correctly.

Expect to see this car soon, most likely on the 4th leg of the 2010 Lateral Drift Championships which will be held at Eastwood Libis.
Check back with us soon for more updates about the ongoing project. See you soon!
Update: Here’s Part 2 of the buildup series of Rhett del Rosario’s Toyota Cressida GX81 by Toycool Garage.
