Hey nice ride! But just a bit of clarification here sir. Only GTRs are called “Godzilla”, not and never the GTS and GTT models. :)
It’s no secret at least for the Japs (have a close friend who lives in Tokyo), oh and you can even check wiki on how the GTR BNR32 dominated the motorsports scene, changing grp. A racing rule book literally.. thus earning it’s nick name Godzilla w/c is given by foreigners who had a “nasty encounter w/ the beast from the east.
Hope I made a little contribution to our nice site. Good Day!!

  2. THE aSTIG says:

Yeah I know. It’s just that Calvin and Ha Chan were talking about giving it a name, and they were thinking of calling it CalvZilla or something to that effect, going back to the Godzilla moniker. Haha! But what I didn’t know is how it earned the nickname Godzilla. LOL! Another day for higher learning for me. Thanks for the info Chelsea! Much appreciated.

  3. Chelsea says:

No problem sir! Actually thanks to a friend from Japan, got to know more about the GT-R legend. :)

It was because of GTR R32 (BNR32)it earned the nick “Godzilla” well simply because it crushed every opponent it was up against during it’s racing years.
Records and feats like 49, 29 consec. official race wins, lap time records whether it’s from Nur or not, top speed records, fastest AWD record holder (w/c was previously held by… surprise surprise another GT-R), receiving outrageous weight handicap on race, being banned in group a racing (leading to a change of rulebooks :) ), most championships earned in JGTC/GT500, etc. etc… was all part of the GT-R resume.
That’s why it’s the undisputed JDM performance car Holy Grail. No other jdm car, I think even Euro or American car have touched the same achievements it had.
Hoped I have shared a bit of info here to our cool site sir. ;)

And I think they are still continuing to do well with the new R35. I saw a video of Bruno Senna testing both the Porsche 911 (GT3 I think) versus the R35. He said his favorite car was the Porsche, and have never driven the R35 prior to that. But after driving both, he was very impressed with the R35 and even clocked a time attack lap half a second faster than the Porsche! Plus the fact that it costs half the price of the Porsche. Wow!
