This is an excellent replica of the Spoon Civic Type-R. Every sponsor logo has been replicated as close as possible to the original. Including the Red Honda Badges!

Even the rear spoiler and diffuser has been replicated as close as possible to the original. Nice!!!
This car has been featured in the Marikina CarFest 2009 at SM Marikina last August 29-30, 2009.
Aside from the body modifications shown above which have been done on the FD Honda Civic, if any of you are interested in building your own race ready Spoon Civic Type-R, here are a few items that you’d have to put on your checklist:
- Swap the stock engine and 5-speed transmission for a K20A from the Integra Type-R with 6-speed transmission
- Swap the pistons for the forged metal S2000 pistons. The sleeves have to be altered to accomodate this.
- Have the engine balanced and blueprinted
- Suspension lowered with Spoon Coilovers
- Spoon 4-pot brake calipers
- Lightweight17-inch Wheels with 215/40/17 Tires
- Strip the car of unnecessary mass. The general rule to make Hondas go faster is weight reduction!
These modifications will have you knocking on S2000 territory. Read: 245HP at 8,500RPM!!!

I discovered your homepage by coincidence.
Very interesting posts and well written.
I will put your site on my blogroll.
Thanks Henry!
teh rides on this site are masagwa…no originality
What would you consider as ORIGINAL?
hahaha… i agree with spiceboy. i really don’t know what is the real concept behind these rides. i guess this is a perfect example of… “only in the phillipnes” culture. Don’t worry bro these critics can make you popular… yun nga lang sa negative aspect. haha… i’m still waiting for a pure pinoy custom ride… like sarao jeep na modify nyo to the max, maybe put a very powerful engine and very elegant looking exterior, but don’t remove the banderitas ah… haha
I don’t mind the criticisms bro. We are all entitled to our own opinions. And this site is a place where you can comment and discuss, and rate the rides you see. When we feature rides on this site, we are not paid for the feature. So feel free to comment as you like.
Speaking of Saraos, I remember a couple of years ago in an offroad race where a 4×4 Sarao with 36 inch tires I think competed in an offroad event. It was colored yellow, and stainless. Hehehe. Was pretty cool. Very Filipino.
Also, there are a lot of people in the US ordering stainless Owner Type Jeep body shells from the Philippines and building them into 4×4 offroaders with massive tires. I have a couple of examples in some magazines at home. But I can’t post them here due to copyright infringement laws…
When I said original, I meant you buy a car you design it your own way…Make it standout, replicating does not equal to creativity.
You talk of copyright infringement laws yet you post a pic of a replica car that I bet Honda does know about.
napadaan lang..
as per wikipedia:
A custom car is a passenger vehicle that has been modified in either of the following two ways. First, a custom car may be altered to improve its performance, often by altering or replacing the engine and transmission. Second, a custom car may be a personal “styling” statement by the re-styler/re-builder, making the car look “unique” and unlike any car that might have been factory finished. Customs are distinct from hot rods; exactly where the difference lies has been the subject of debate among customizers and rodders for decades.
hahahaha…. look it up!
I violate copyright if someone else took the pictures, someone else has written the article, and then I just copy and paste it and use it here without any consent; unless the article or pictures are of the public domain. I did not violate any copyright laws by taking my own pictures of something I’ve seen in a public area and after which choose to disclose it to the public.
Anyways, you do have a point. And as what Alex has quoted, a custom car is one that has been made to look unique unlike any car that might have been factory finished. I guess what the builders of this Accord were trying to show is what they are capable of doing. Perhaps it was sans creativity, but it did stir a commotion. Hahaha!
Thanks for the definition Alex!
@spiceboy
ayaw mo pala ng ganito tapos magcocomment ka pa, way too crab man! inggit ka lang sa kanila! hahahaha!
anyway, nice effort dude
wag mo na pansinin yang mga ugok na yan, inggit lang sila
@krabby
could you please be more specific in what way my comment was crab mentality..Encouraging creativity and originality/individualism is tantamount to pulling people down?..It was a good copy..again a COPY…kopya po sa tagalog…Would you be proud if you passed a test because you COPIED? Think about that before you shove your BS.
The lack of new ideas is what’s keeping us down..
Looks like with this ride, it’s either you love it, or you hate it. But never in the middle. You can’t just look at this and say nothing. I guess this is something that just can’t be ignored. Hahaha
@spiceboy
What can you say about the other rides featured? Would you like to comment under something you’ve found to be creative?
mga magkano aabutin ang conversion for this? price of just the modifications please
Yes! It’s pinoy na pinoy..It’s opakracing owned by a filipino based in the US named edmun Laurea from bacolod city.
Price for the conversion? Hmmm… Let’s see… Rough estimates:
The engine will probably cost you somewhere around PHP 300,000 not including shipping yet for the K20A Engine including the Transmission with LSD, ECU, Axles with half-shafts, Motor Mounts, Engine Wiring Harness, Starter and Alternator, Clutch and Flywheel, Intake Manifold, Fuel Rail and Injectors, Shift Linkage.
Roughly PHP 30,000 for the S2000 pistons plus another PHP 30,000 for the sleeves. Have yet to add cost for engine rebuilding/balancing/blueprinting.
Around PHP 150,000 for the Spoon adjustable coilovers, around PHP 80,000 for the Spoon 4-Pot Calipers, around PHP 30,000 per piece for lightweight wheels such as those from Mugen or Volk Racing, tires not included yet.
In short, I’d say you can expect to pay roughly the same amount of money you spent to buy the car with brand-new. I hope this helps?
Owned by a Pinoy! It’s a Custom Pinoy Ride.

for once i ain’t stooping down to London Garage: Chop Shop/Bangla Bangers customization by Lepu (if you happen to watch Turbo Channel) the car he “customizes” are pure BS with no redeeming factor at all. aerodynamics=zero, aesthetics=zero, mechanicals=zero…if you’ve seen the guy do “wind tunnel” testing you would laugh hard and roll at the floor. jusko, gumamit ba naman ng electric fan at usok ng yosi para masimulate ang wind tunnel.
Yeah I know Chop Shop London Garage.
